Welcome to Waitress Wiki – an unofficial fan wiki dedicated to Waitress the Musical. Based on the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress has a book by Jessie Nelson, score by Grammy Award-winner singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, choreography by Lorin Latarro and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus.

The show’s original Broadway run at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre closed on 5 January 2020, with a full First National Tour travelling across the USA and Canada, ending in August 2019. A second tour of the show is currently travelling across North America. The show reopened in a Broadway restaging at the Barrymore Theatre for a limited run in September 2021, becoming the first Broadway production to open after the COVID-19 closures. It closed in December 2021, following the outbreak of the Omicron variant.

The show’s first replica production closed in London’s West End at the Adelphi Theatre in March 2020, with a full UK and Ireland Tour starting in September 2021, delayed due to COVID-19. The third international replica production opened in Tokyo, Japan in March 2021, and toured Japan after.

The first non-replica international production took place in 2018 in Manila in the Philippines, with new direction and set design, with a second – a Spanish translation entitled ‘Camarera: El Musical’ – opening in Buenos Aires, Argentina in April 2019. Further non-replica productions opened in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Warsaw, Poland in Spring 2021, with Lahti, Finland following in September.

A replica of the Broadway production was due to tour the Netherlands in October 2020,; however, this has been postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19. It was also due to open in Sydney, Australia in 2020; this has also been delayed.

Many further international productions are in the works over the next few years.
